Zayed Sustainable Prize נוסד בשנת 2008, עם 106 זוכים עד היום, כאשר זהו הפרס היוקרתי ביותר של ממשלת איחוד האמירויות להכרה במצוינות בקיימות. הפרס הושק על ידי השייח מוחמד בן זאיד אל נהיאן, נשיא איחוד האמירויות הערביות, יורש העצר דאז, כמחווה למורשת ההומניטריות והמחויבות לקיימות של אביו שייח זאיד בן סולטאן אל נהיאן.
התחרות מיועדת לSME’s וארגונים ללא מטרות רווח ומחולקת ל-5 קטגוריות (בנוסף לקטגוריה נפרדת לבתי ספר): מים, אנרגיה, מזון, בריאות ואקלים. סך הפרסים בתחרות הוא 3.6 מיליון דולר, כאשר בכל קטגוריה מחולקים $600,000. הדגש בבחינה והערכה של החברות הוא על שילוב בין חדשנות, אימפקט וחזון. להלן הקריטריונים בקטגוריות השונות:
